Every masterpiece starts with a single line. In this first stage, we help your child slow down and truly see the world around them. It’s a time for “What if?” and “Look at that!” as they discover how simple shapes and bright colors come together to tell a story.

What’s happening in the studio:

• The Artist’s Toolkit: We play with the “Big Five” Line, Shape, Form, Color, and Space to see how they work together.

• Waking Up Their Eyes: Through fun drawing exercises, kids learn to notice the details that others might miss.

• Finding Their Way: We introduce “near and far,” helping them understand how to place a house on the ground or a sun in the sky.

Intermediate Techniques & Application
Focus: Applying elements to create balance, depth, and visual interest

Now that your child has their toolkit, it’s time to see what those tools can really do! In Level 2, we shift from asking “What is a line?” to “What can this line create?” This stage is all about the relationship between different elements—how a pattern creates a mood or how a shadow creates a shape.

In this level, your child will explore:

• Rhythm & Touch: Playing with patterns and textures to make art you can almost “feel.”

• The Balancing Act: Learning the secret to making an artwork feel “just right” using symmetry and balance.

• The Illusion of Depth: Mastering overlapping and “Value” (the science of light and dark) to turn flat paper into a 3D world.

• Filling the Frame: Learning how to organize their big ideas so they fit perfectly on the page.

Advanced Principles & Narrative
Focus: Creating expressive, cohesive, and meaningful artworks

This is the peak of our creative journey! At this level, your child stops asking “How do I draw this?” and starts asking “What story do I want to tell?” We move into the world of expression, teaching young artists how to capture a feeling, show a sense of motion, and guide a viewer’s eye through their work.

What your young artist will master:

• Capturing the Moment: Learning how to use “Rhythm” to make art that feels like it’s moving and breathing.

• The Power of Focus: Using emphasis and contrast to make their most important ideas pop off the page.

• Mastering the Horizon: An introduction to perspective, giving them the “keys” to drawing realistic depth and vast distances.

• Layered Storytelling: Refining their work with strategic overlapping and advanced textures for a professional, cohesive finish.
